Digital Literacy

Digital literacy means having the skills to find, understand, and evaluate information online. It helps us stay informed, make smart decisions, and avoid falling for misinformation.

Digital literacy can be applied by using the fact-checking method the CRAAP test to decide if this google image is current, relevant, authorities, accurate, and if it has purpose.

Results, Purpose, Growth

The results of this CRAAP test came back that this website has passed!! I trust my skill in analyzing online content carefully and making responsible decisions in digital spaces. Using methods like the CRAAP test allows me to verify the reliability of sources and reduce exposure to false information. However, it is very easy to fall into the trap of rage bait which is a very prominent form of marketing especially on social media sites. So that is always something i keep in mind especially if I start rabbit holing a social media post.

The areas of growth for this subject and for me personally were very dramatic. Not to say that I was one to believe everything I saw on social media, but I definitely have spread misinformation on my own social media and in real life from a misleading post. This unit allowed me to actually step back and analyze this information, even going to a trusted website to look up the information given over social media. However, in the future I need to focus on not only looking up what I agree or disagree with but also the little things. A large part of having trustful information on your socials is to follow and interact with facts and information that you know is true. I will try my best to unfollow and not interact with false information or pages spreading false information.
